Displacement

Lack of spaces (schools)

As a result of large population of displacement, there is a lack of learning spaces (schools). Many children and adolescents have no access to education because of the large number of displacement. Learning space become a major problem. NGOs do offer alternative basic education at camps, but it is poor schools infrastructure, children were learning under trees, some are under tents, it was so overcrowded. It is really very hard during the rain fall or sun shinning.

  1. Yes Elizabeth,
I agree with you, when ever children are in the camps, the class size is so large and is difficult for a teacher to give effective teaching. I experienced this personal went I was in the camp, we were 300 in primary three and divided into A, B and C. sometime we can stayed the all day without teaching because one teacher has to teach in different classes. we should think what to do as teachers in our country.

  2. Indeed large population diplacement is one of the impact that affects education system in South Sudan and as result of that teaching becomes difficult due to large numbers of students. Some even loose interest in going to school and decide to go and work as a conductor and for girls they decide to get married but l believe all that can change and it will start from you, me and others do you believe so?

  3. Lovely conversation ladies. I can't imagine trying to teach 300 students! I can also see it being difficult to account for the weather and to adjust the seasons. There are so many difficulties I wonder where you would suggest starting?

  4. I think most of us might be experienced it before in the late nineteenth including me, which affected the quality of the education that we gain but now we are doing good, we have gone far with the little we have! Yes I believe Joy This thing could happen if we believe in our abilities with ambitions, even if it will take time but as long as we started to work on them it will be there for the next generation and that will be a history of change, if we need to do this time.

  5. It is true that many people undergo displacement in conflict zones. And I believe a number of UN agencies and NGO provide school age children with education which take place under poor school infrastructure. As a teacher, what do you think can be done to improve this situation?

  7. This is a reality, teachers face at school. The classes are over crowded, which are hard to manage and marking exams in time is a problem, yet teachers are always told to prepare termly report cards in time and for the benefit of quality education, to attend to each learner equally, this issue should be solved because there is a required number of student, a class should have.
